Don’t let a damaged or broken tooth disrupt your day-to-day life or the long-term future of your oral health.

For teeth that require restorative and cosmetic attention, our skilfully made crowns offer protection and a convincingly natural result that suits your smile.

What are crowns?

Crowns are one of the most common dental restorations used to repair and restore a tooth that has become moderately to severely affected by problems that threaten its health. They act as caps that fit over the entirety of a tooth.

Quick-fire benefits

  • Prevent decay from worsening.
  • Improve the appearance of broken or severely chipped and fractured teeth.
  • Cover a tooth that is discoloured post-root canal treatment.
  • Forget about any cosmetic damage that may have been stopping you from smiling in public.
  • Crowns are anchored over the top of an implant, giving an unparalleled level of stability when you chew and talk.

FAQs

What are the main reasons I might need a crown?

Some common reasons for needing a crown include:

  • Dental decay that is too extensive for a filling, inlay or onlay.
  • To fortify a filling.
  • To secure dental bridges in position.
  • To fit over the top of a dental implant.
  • To improve severely discoloured teeth (where teeth whitening cannot be of use).
  • To restore a natural and balanced appearance to your teeth.
  • To address tooth wear.

What are crowns made of?

There are a series of materials that can be used to produce crowns, including porcelain, porcelain-fused-to-metal, ceramic, glass and gold alloy.

The materials we use will depend on the location of the tooth that requires attention and your particular needs. Whilst some patients prefer a more cost-effective choice of material, others may wish to opt for a premium material such as porcelain which mimics real tooth enamel extremely effectively.

What can I expect from the process?

Digital software is used to help us establish the most preservative treatment possible to repair your tooth. Should we find the structural integrity of your tooth is at risk, a crown is often the best way to proceed.

Our planning software will give us the information we need to identify the distinctive aspects of your tooth, which our dental technician will keep in mind when creating your bespoke crown. Everything from the shape, contours, shade, length and width of how your teeth sit together will be analysed, with a view to effecting a natural-looking outcome.
